In a move to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of its National Convention in November, former Jigawa State Governor and PDP chieftain, Sule Lamido, has assumed leadership of the party’s Congress Committee in Oyo State.
Under his supervision, the committee on Monday conducted the state congress at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, leading to the election of a new state executive council expected to drive PDP’s resurgence in the state.
The congress, which drew delegates from all 33 local government areas of Oyo, reflected broad-based participation and unity. Governor Seyi Makinde, one of the delegates, cast his ballot during the exercise.
Lamido—renowned for his decades of service as a two-term governor, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a founding pillar of the PDP—chaired the proceedings with characteristic poise and inclusivity.
The former governor pledged that the process would remain transparent, peaceful, and democratic, in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
