I remain loyal to Cross River governor, says Sen. Jarigbe

Amid political chatter in Cross River State, Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the state governor, stressing that there can only be one leader in the state.

“The Governor of Cross River State is the constitutionally elected and recognised leader of our dear state,” Jarigbe said in a statement on Monday. “I remain absolutely loyal to him, his office, and the agenda of his administration. Any attempt to equate my role as Senator to that of a Governor is not only inaccurate but also misleading.”

He urged his supporters to give their “unwavering support and loyalty” to the governor, noting that unity is essential for delivering democratic dividends.

“No level of excitement or political celebration should cause anyone to misrepresent my person or the role I play,” he said. “I was raised and taught to respect constituted authority, and I hold strongly to that principle.”

Rejecting the title “Governor of the North” being ascribed to him by some supporters, Jarigbe said: “While I appreciate the enthusiasm and goodwill of my supporters across the Cross River North Senatorial District, I must state firmly and unequivocally that I reject being addressed in borrowed robes.”

He called on political actors to desist from sowing seeds of discord and instead close ranks to move Cross River State forward.
