Tackle insecurity with same zeal for revenue drive, Atiku urges Tinubu

    Published on

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the federal government’s priorities, accusing it of celebrating revenue targets while Nigerians are being killed by insecurity.

“We cannot continue to lose our productive population to sundry criminalities and yet make bogus claims about revenue targets, as though the lives of those who produce the revenue don’t matter,” Atiku said in a post on X.

He was reacting to Tuesday’s attack on Wagga Mongono in Adamawa’s Madagali Local Government Area, where suspected insurgents killed at least four people, injured several others, and razed homes, shops, and a church.

Calling the incident “deeply personal” given his Adamawa roots, Atiku extended condolences to the victims and demanded urgent government action.

“Our people are tired of empty claims of security improvements,” he said. “Nigerians want to see the government exert the same energy on fighting insecurity as it does on raising revenue.”

He stressed that insecurity remains a daily threat for millions and urged decisive, sustained action. “Nigerians deserve peace, security, and the freedom to live without fear,” Atiku added.
