    NOC’s women commission concludes national seminar series in Owerri

    The Women’s Commission of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will host the concluding zonal seminar of its nationwide initiative in Owerri, Imo State, from September 16 to September 18, 2025.

    This pivotal three-day seminar is for female coaches, administrators, and technical officials representing State Sports Councils and Commissions within the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.

    Participants will convene at the Executive Garden Hotels on Okigwe Road in Owerri, the capital city.

    Professor Florence Adeyanju, the esteemed NOC Women’s Commission Chairperson, will preside over the proceedings.

    The Commission’s Secretary, Mrs. Kemi Obidahunsi, stated that this Owerri event marks the successful culmination of a comprehensive seminar series that commenced in July 2025, effectively engaging participants from the North Central, North East, North West, and South-West zones.

    In her remarks, Professor Adeyanju lauded the unwavering commitment of the Women’s Commission members in the South-East and South-South zones for their determination to proceed with the crucial seminar.

    She emphasised the significance of their resilience in empowering female leaders within the sports ecosystem across these zones.

    The distinguished Engr will formally inaugurate the seminar. Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee and Nigeria’s representative on the International Olympic Committee (IOC), underscored the national importance of this initiative.
