Badminton fireworks as upsets light up Lagos Classics

    Published on

The 8th Lagos International Badminton Classics exploded into life with a flurry of upsets and highlight-reel performances on Day One.

India, arriving with the largest contingent, dominated early—but the tournament wasted no time delivering drama. Top seed N. Mueller of Switzerland was stunned by Indonesia’s Muhammad Yusuf in a thriller, while South Korea’s Yoo sent India’s second seed Maisham packing in straight sets.

Nigeria had mixed fortunes. Star shuttler S. Obanisola advanced, as did O. Obasanmi, while former No.1 Dorcas Adesokan bowed out to India’s T. Mir.

The Teslim Balogun Indoor Hall crackled with intensity across 64 matches, setting the stage for a tournament where giants are already falling. With India holding the early edge, fans are bracing for more shocks as the Lagos showdown rolls on.
