Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, has initiated legal action against activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over what he described as “false, malicious, and grossly defamatory” publications.

According to letters issued by Obi’s legal team and reports widely circulated on social media, the case stems from a series of Adeyanju’s critical posts about Obi’s public life and political future, allegedly dating back to 2022. The letters demanded a public retraction, apology, and damages.

Adeyanju has, however, dismissed the demand, insisting he will not be intimidated.

“Meet me in court,” he declared in his reaction, adding that he is prepared to defend his comments before a judge.

Media reports indicate Obi’s legal team, led by A senior counsel, considers Adeyanju’s publications damaging to Obi’s reputation and credibility. The activist, on his part, says he will stand by his words.
