EFCC dismisses staff who appeared on matchmaking show

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has ordered the arrest of a former staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he appeared on a matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer, Lege Miami.

The Commission, in a statement released on Monday through its official X handle, said Folarin had earlier been dismissed for presenting forged academic certificates while serving as a driver at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate.

According to the agency, despite his dismissal, the ex-staff retained official property belonging to the EFCC, including an identity card that should have been surrendered immediately.

The Commission stressed that such conduct was unacceptable and must not be linked to its image.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered that Folarin be picked up and held accountable for failing to return government property, noting that his appearance on a widely viewed online platform created a misleading impression that he was still connected to the Commission.

“The public is urged not to associate his post-dismissal activities with the EFCC,” the statement read.

The anti-graft agency emphasised that it would continue to protect its integrity and ensure that any misuse of its name or symbols by former staff is swiftly addressed.
