AC Milan call off Boniface deal over failed medicals

    Published on

AC Milan have reportedly ended their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface after the player failed his medical examination.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal, which would have seen the forward join AC Milan on a season-long loan with an option to buy, was called off due to concerns over Boniface’s history of knee injuries.

The 24-year-old had recently traveled to Milan to complete the move, which included a loan fee of €5 million and a non-mandatory purchase clause of €24 million. He had also agreed to a long-term contract with the Italian club.

However, medical tests reportedly flagged issues with his right knee, which has been previously injured.

Romano confirmed the news on social media, stating that Milan’s decision was a direct result of the failed medical assessment. The club’s medical staff reportedly advised against the transfer, citing potential long-term risks associated with the player’s knee.

Boniface has suffered two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures in the past.

Despite coach Massimiliano Allegri’s interest in adding Boniface to the squad, Milan ultimately chose to prioritise the long-term reliability of their players. The striker is now set to return to Germany, and this turn of events could impact his future market value.
