I joined politics to serve, not enrich myself – El-Rufai

    Published on

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has come out swinging against his former party, urging Nigerians to vote out the ruling APC in 2027.

Speaking at a youth mobilization event in Sokoto State, El-Rufai said his entrance into politics was rooted in service, not self-interest.

“When a government stops serving its people, it’s my duty to speak out and act,” he declared.

El-Rufai described the APC as “incompetent and clannish,” warning that its continued rule threatens Nigeria’s unity. He endorsed the opposition coalition, now organizing under the ADC, as the credible alternative.

“The APC is now a risk to national cohesion,” he said. “We can’t allow this dysfunction to continue.”

His comments add fresh fuel to the opposition’s growing momentum ahead of 2027, as high-profile defections and internal dissent continue to shake the ruling party.
