2027: Gbajabiamila rallies northern ex-lawmakers for Tinubu

    Published on

Nigeria’s Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged former legislators from the North to back President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, stressing the need for unity, continuity and respect for political agreements.

Speaking at the 2025 Dialogue Session of the Northern Caucus of the National Forum of Former Legislators in Abuja, Gbajabiamila described Tinubu as a “national leader who has carried every region along” and pointed to ongoing infrastructure and agricultural projects in the North as evidence of balanced governance.

“President Tinubu is not just a Southern leader; he is a national leader who has carried every region along. From critical infrastructure to policy reforms, the North is benefiting from a government that believes in equity and shared prosperity,” Gbajabiamila said.

The Northern Caucus, in a communiqué co-signed by coordinator Rufai Chanchangi and secretary Atiwurcha, endorsed the southern presidency in 2027, saying it was in the North’s best interest for the incumbent to complete the South’s tenure.

National chairman of the forum, Nnanna Igbokwe, hailed the endorsement as a “bold and patriotic stand” that could influence other regions. The forum also urged the government to intensify efforts to address insecurity in states such as Zamfara, Katsina, Plateau, Benue and Niger.

“This resolution by the Northern Caucus is a significant statement of statesmanship. It shows leadership that transcends personal or regional interest. I am confident that more zones will follow this example in the spirit of unity and continuity,” Igbokwe said.

The dialogue session is part of nationwide consultations by the forum aimed at promoting inclusive governance and a smooth democratic transition.
