    Published on

Former Governor of Adamawa State and serving Senator, Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a resignation letter dated July 21, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Kollere Ward, Mubi-North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Jibrilla thanked the party for the platform it provided him, noting that his time with the PDP helped foster grassroots mobilization and contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development.

“This decision has not been made lightly,” he wrote. “While I deeply respect the party’s legacy, I believe it is time to pursue other political and personal commitments that align with my current priorities.”

The letter was acknowledged the same day by the Kollere Ward Chairman, Adamu Iya.

Jibrilla’s departure from the PDP comes amid growing speculation of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape of Adamawa State and beyond.
