Nigeria better under PDP’s government – Sen. Abbas

    Published on

A Federal lawmaker on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, has expressed unwavering support for the party, saying, “Whatever PDP is doing he’s happy,” and claiming that Nigeria was better under PDP’s leadership.

Senator Iya Abbas, representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, downplayed recent internal conflicts, describing them as “family affairs” that have now been settled.

The PDP held its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Monday at the party‘s headquarters in Abuja, where all disputes were settled.

Hours after the NEC meeting, the National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, declared that the party’s NEC has affirmed Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary.

Speaking to journalists in his National Assembly office on Wednesday on the sidelines of the PDP’s NEC meeting and the unanimous decisions made, the lawmaker stressed that the party’s settlement of the wrangling between the two secretaries is a significant step towards strengthening the party.

“With the settlement, PDP is going out strong,” the leader said, adding that Nigerians are yearning for PDP’s return to power due to dissatisfaction with the current government.

He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to contest and win the 2027 elections, stating that the PDP will “do our best” to align with Nigerians’ wishes and prayers.

When asked about the recent wave of defections, the leader remained unfazed, saying that the PDP is well-known across the country and that the party has done well in his state (Adamawa).

“Politics is local,” the leader said, implying that PDP’s performance in his state is a testament to the party’s enduring strength. With renewed optimism, PDP is gearing up to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
