Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Olabode George, has emphasized that the party is not a privately owned entity and called for the immediate convening of a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to address internal disputes.

His remarks followed a tense situation at the PDP National Secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday, where police reportedly blocked access to the premises ahead of a scheduled meeting. The Board of Trustees (BoT) was set to meet before an expanded caucus session when police, allegedly acting on “orders from above,” stopped members from entering.

This claim was made by former PDP National Secretary, Mr. Umar Tsauri. In response, the BoT quickly moved its meeting to the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Speaking on the development, Chief Bode George criticized the situation, reiterating that the PDP should not be treated as a personal property. He linked the crisis to a dispute between two individuals and stressed that the only way forward was internal dialogue.

“The PDP is not a private enterprise,” George stated. “This is an internal disagreement that must be resolved at the table.”
