Barely one week after President Bola Tinubu ordered security agencies to go after the killers of the people of Yelwata in Benue state, in an alleged herdsmen attack, the joint security services in the State on Monday, announced the arrest of suspects linked to the attacks
The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Emenari Ifeanyi, who made the disclosure while briefing the press in Makurdi, on Sunday, however refused to disclose the suspect’s identity, as well as the number of arrests made so far
President Tinubu had during a visit to the troubled Benue state last Wednesday, queried why the security agencies were yet to make any arrest in the series of attacks that led to the death of several indigens of Yelwata, with heavy destruction of properties.
The police boss, who said the arrests were facilitated by the support they received from the Benue state Governor Hyacinth Alia, explained further that the deployment from IGP Kayode Egbetokun have all arrived in Benue and have been posted to rural communities to ensure effective policing.
