Adamawa APC denies endorsing Ribadu for VP

    Published on

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed media reports suggesting that the party endorsed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for a political position during a stakeholders’ meeting held in the Hong Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, titled ‘Rebuttal: Adamawa APC Endorses Tinubu, Ribadu,’ and signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Muhammed Abdullahi, the APC described the reports as a mischievous distortion of the true purpose and outcome of the meeting.

According to the statement, the gathering in Hong was part of the party’s ongoing grassroots mobilisation tour aimed at strengthening party unity, reinforcing local structures, and passing down the collective decision of the APC at the state, zonal, and national levels to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report on the purported endorsement of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. We categorically state that no such endorsement took place,” Abdullahi said.

He explained that while a vote of confidence was passed in recognition of Ribadu’s commendable service as NSA, it should not be misconstrued as an endorsement for any political ambition.

“The commendation was purely in appreciation of his contributions to national security and the pride he brings to Adamawa State through his role in the administration of President Tinubu,” the statement read.

The party emphasised that appointments are strictly the prerogative of the President and cannot be influenced or preempted at the state level.

“There is no basis for endorsing any appointee. We fully respect the President’s discretion in such matters,” the party stated.

Reiterating its loyalty to President Tinubu, the Adamawa APC reaffirmed its readiness to mobilise the electorate towards ensuring his re-election in 2027.

“We remain solidly behind His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and are committed to returning him to office with an overwhelming mandate,” the party said.

The party also cautioned the public and media against spreading falsehoods intended to cause confusion or disunity within its ranks, insisting that such narratives will not distract it from its goals.
