Netflix announces multi-million-dollar investment over 4 years in Mexico.

Ted Sarandos, director of Netflix, announced a one-billion-dollar investment in Mexico over a period of four years.

The Netflix executive announced this investment on Thursday, January 20, during the Mañanera conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, he said that the amount will be allocated to 20 international and local productions that will generate employment and detonate the economy.

Sarandos explained that all productions “are made in collaboration with production companies and local partners,” “helping talented people find their vocation in our sector.”

For example, he announced in advance a collaboration with Mexico City-based Estudios Churubusco “to improve their facilities.”

The CEO ended his presentation by giving the president a shawl made by the Master weaver Alejandro Vázquez for the recent Netflix production of Pedro Páramo.

Pedro Páramo is a novel by Mexican writer Juan Rulfo, first published in 1955. This novel showcases the roots of Mexican culture and its beliefs in the afterlife through deeply complex characters, spirituality, and a constant transition between realms/dimensions that encompass a nonlinear chronology.
