    Benue govt distributes over 10,000 relief materials to IDPs

    The Benue State Government has distributed relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) comprising the three senatorial districts in the state.

    The state Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), Dr Iorpuu Aondoakaa, during the distribution on Thursday in Makurdi, who was represented at the occasion by Dr Donald Tongu, applauded President Bola Tinubu for the directive to the Chief of Nigerian Army Staff, Olufemi Olurungun, to ensure the prolonged crisis is resolved.

    “We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resilience and unwavering commitment towards ensuring the end of prolonged insurgents in the state,” he said.

    He also commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his untiring efforts to ensure the well-being of the displaced persons is paramount during his administration.

    The BSEMA Administrative Secretary disclosed that items distributed include: over 50,000 bags of rice, as well as beans, large number of toiletries, wrappers, large quantities of garri, and other assorted materials.

    The Secretary disclosed that the relief materials would be taken to relevant internally displaced persons’ camps across the state afterwards.

    “This exercise is monthly for the displaced victims at the instance of the State Government,” he added.
