The Federal Government has pledged the timely completion of the first phase of the Akure–Ado Ekiti Road dualisation project by December 2025 to alleviate the hardship long endured by commuters.

The minister of works, Dave Umahi gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the road project on Sunday.

The Akure–Ado Ekiti Road, a vital link between two major cities in South-West Nigeria, has been undergoing reconstruction for nearly two years.

For years, commuters have faced serious challenges due to the road’s poor condition, affecting both travel efficiency and safety.

However, there’s now a ray of hope as the Federal Government assures that relief is on the horizon, with the first phase of the project set for completion by the end of this year.

During an inspection tour of the site, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Funsho Adebiyi, underscored the need to maintain high construction standards.

He also appealed to the contractors to remain committed and ensure the project was delivered on schedule.
