Governance not personal business, Makinde tells Wike

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has taken a firm swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of turning governance into a personal venture.

Speaking through his Special Adviser, Dare Adeleke, Makinde said Wike, the former Rivers State Governor, has resorted to throwing tantrums and name-calling in the wake of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) crisis, actions he described as dishonest and self-serving.

“As a former governor and now FCT Minister. Wike seems to view governance as a personal fiefdom. It’s disturbing and undemocratic,” Adeleke stated.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to rein in the FCT Minister before more damage is done.

“How can someone, out of personal grievances, seek to destroy political institutions?”

According to Adeleke, Wike sits at the epicentre of the PDP’s instability and is actively undermining the opposition to bolster the APC’s prospects in 2027. He described Wike as the arrowhead of a sinister agenda to “eliminate what’s left of Nigeria’s opposition parties.”

Makinde’s aide also condemned Wike’s constant public attacks on PDP leadership as “arrogant” and “undemocratic,” asserting that the FCT Minister is playing a script to guarantee Tinubu’s re-election at all cost.
