The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, has commissioned a newly constructed Divisional Police Headquarters in Katampe, Abuja.

Our reporter gathered that the IGP also performed a groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of quarters for men and officers of the division.

The IGP, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, (AIG), Victor Olaiya, said the commissioning of the new police division marked a significant milestone in the force’s efforts to reform its operations and uplift the morale of its officers.

He said the construction of the new police division for Katampe was aimed at improving infrastructure and adequate welfare of its officers, which he said remained essential to boosting the morale and professionalism of police personnel.

He noted that the newly unveiled Smart Divisional Police Headquarters is expected to serve as a modern policing hub for the Katampe district, which he said would be equipped to improve community relations and security responsiveness.

According to him, the 6-man rank and file quarters is an initiative of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), which he said is targeted at longstanding issues of housing for junior officers.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) Mohammed Sheidu, reaffirmed the fund’s commitment to the welfare of police officers and their operational readiness.

“These projects are part of a broader transformation agenda that aligns with the vision of the current police leadership,” he said.
