The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta Chapter, has described the appointment of Dr. Ayibatonye Timi to the South-South Development Commission as a testament to his deep-rooted commitment to public service.
This is contained in a goodwill message by the State Chairman of the party, Chief Omeni Sobotie, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday.
President Bola Tinubu had, in a letter to the Senate on Thursday, sought confirmation of the appointees to the boards of the North-Central, South-West, and South-South Development Commissions. Timi was named among those to spearhead the development commissions.
Sobotie, while reacting to the development, said that Timi’s appointment by Tinubu as Executive Director, Corporate Services of the South-South Development Commission was well-deserved.
He also said that the appointment was not only a recognition of Timi’s illustrious career as an accomplished lawyer, seasoned technocrat, and visionary politician, but also a testament to his deep-rooted commitment to public service and the development of the zone.
“With an impressive array of credentials and a solid track record of excellence and service delivery, Dr. Ayibatonye Timi will no doubt bring a wealth of experience and dynamic leadership to this strategic position.
“Timi, a former Chairman of the Delta House of Assembly Commission, Member of the Delta House of Assembly, Commissioner for Special Duties, and most recently, Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign Organisation (2022–2023), has consistently demonstrated competence, loyalty, and capacity to deliver results under pressure,” he said.
The APC State Chairman expressed confidence that Timi’s wealth of experience and unwavering dedication would be invaluable in driving the core mandate of the commission, aligning seamlessly with the vision and objectives of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the appointment also signals a brighter future for the South-South zone, particularly in delivering tangible development and corporate efficiency.
While commending the President for the “wise and strategic appointment,” he assured the appointee of the full support of the party as he assumes office for the national assignment.
“Once again, congratulations to a worthy son of Delta and a proud ambassador of our party,” Sobotie added.
