Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the release of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to enhance the operational capabilities of the military and youth volunteers in Izge town.

The deployment of these vehicles and motorcycles is aimed at improving the mobility of local security operatives, enabling them to respond swiftly to threats and support ongoing military operations in the area.

Governor Zulum gave the approval on Friday during an assessment visit to Gwoza. He commended both the Nigerian military and the local community for their bravery in repelling recent insurgent attacks.

“I am here to examine the situation on the ground and hear directly from you about the real challenges you face so we can address them,” the governor said.

“We are optimistic that, insha Allah, we shall never lose again. I want to commend the military, despite some of the remarks made by people, including myself. When we mentioned a resurgence of Boko Haram, it wasn’t to undermine the Nigerian military. We were simply stating the reality so that we can unite to address the looming crisis and avoid losing ground.”

“We shall do everything possible, insha Allah, to ensure Izge is not displaced. I commend the people of Izge; they are gallant and resilient. We will do whatever it takes to maintain law and order in Izge. Tell us what needs to be done, and we shall act.”

According to the governor, the newly released assets include five Toyota Hilux vehicles and 30 motorcycles, along with other operational logistics.

Zulum also revealed plans for the gradual resettlement of displaced communities, assuring residents of continued government support in efforts to restore peace and stability.

He noted that several communities, including Ashigasha, Warabe, Guduf, Wala, and many smaller villages which are set to be resettled in phases.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the member representing Gwoza in the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Buba Abatcha; Head of Service, Dr. Muhammad Ghuluze; Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele; Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mustapha Ali Busuguma; Chief Adviser to the Governor, Dr. Mairo Mandara; among other top officials.
