Female members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Orientation Camp in Okada, Edo State, have been sensitised on proper vaginal care and menstrual hygiene.

The Executive Director of Women for Greater Good Foundation, Fatima Hassan, stated this at a workshop on vaginal hygiene.

The workshop was organised by a corps member, Ms Monica Patrick, during which she donated 300 sanitary pads to fellow female members of the scheme.

Fatima described vagina as a critical part of a woman’s reproductive system, noting that, “It must be kept clean.”

She stated that good hygiene practices, such as washing hands before touching the body, keeping the area dry, and avoiding harmful practices are essential.

On her part, the donor, Monica Patrick, who is currently undergoing her service in Edo State, described the donation as part of her outreach to promote menstrual hygiene and women’s health.

Monica, who graduated from the University of Calabar, stated that the initiative was inspired by a passion for the well-being of women and girls.

“I have always had the desire to reach out to the girl-child and women.

“This programme, which includes a health talk and free distribution of sanitary pads, is a step in that direction.

“I’m grateful to the state coordinator, platoon leaders, and my elder brother, Dr Prince Michael, for their support in making this a reality,” she stated.
