ISWAP takes responsibility for horrific Borno explosion in Nigeria

The devastating bombing of a pickup truck in Borno State on Monday, which killed roughly 26 travelers, has been attributed to the Islamic State West Africa Province, or ISWAP.

The terrorist organization made the assertion in a statement that was uploaded to its Telegram channel on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

Remember how an IED that was allegedly planted by Boko Haram militants exploded beneath a moving car on its way from Kala-Balge to Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area?

Around 12 p.m. on Monday, the Isuzu pickup van that was involved in the sad event ran over the IED close to Furunduma hamlet.

26 individuals were murdered in the blast, including 16 men, 4 women, and 6 children, according to ASP Nahum Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command.

An Isuzu pickup van registered XA265KKU was traveling from Kala-Balge to Gamboru Ngala when it stepped on an IED near Furunduma hamlet earlier today at around 12:00 p.m.

According to Daso, “26 people—16 men, 4 women, and 6 children—were killed in the tragic incident.”

Meanwhile, suspected ISWAP terrorists attacked and killed six villagers on Saturday in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno state.

In the northeast, Nigerian security forces have been fighting Islamist terrorists ISWAP and Boko Haram for more than ten years.

Terrorists frequently target security personnel and civilians with improvised explosive devices.
