Police in Anambra State have confirmed rescue and safe return of a kidnapped victim at Umuege Village, Amawbia, Awka in Awka South Local government Area of the state.

Command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Wednesday said the victim had been debriefed for necessary action.

He said the rescue followed hot chase and strategic positioning of Police Operatives on receipt of information about the victim’s abduction.

He said, “This made the criminals operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle to abandon the victim in Umunya along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway and fled the scene.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

“Further developments would be communicated accordingly.”
