Galatasaray Advances to Turkish Cup Final Under Victor Osimhen

    Published on

In their pivotal semi-final match against Konyaspor, Galatasaray advanced to the Turkish Cup final thanks to goals and assists from Super Eagles of Nigeria attacker Victor Osimhen.

On Tuesday, Galatasaray won 5-1 at the Konya Buyuksehir Arena thanks to a goal from Victor Osimhen, who scored his 30th goal of the season.

With a strong header in the 26th minute that demonstrated his aerial skill, the Nigerian attacker made an immediate impression.

He powered the ball beyond the Konyaspor goalie to give Galatasaray the lead after connecting flawlessly with a precise cross from Dries Mertens, a former teammate of his from Napoli.

In addition to his ability to score goals, Victor Osimhen has contributed six assists across all competitions, solidifying his position as a vital member of the Turkish champions’ offensive lineup.

Lucas Torreira, a Uruguayan midfielder, took advantage of a defensive error by Konyaspor just before halftime to increase Galatasaray’s lead. His goal gave Okan Buruk’s team a comfortable lead going into halftime, solidifying their dominance of the game.

Robert Sallai made a substantial contribution to Galatasaray’s goal total in the second half, scoring two goals that essentially ended the game.

Building on the momentum from the first half, he scored his first goal soon after the half and then again before Konyaspor’s Pedrinho gave them a consolation goal.

Yusuf Demir, who replaced Osimhen on the bench in the 73rd minute and added a fifth goal in stoppage time to round off an outstanding display by the team, was made possible by this resounding 4-1 victory.

After playing a key part in Galatasaray’s hard-fought 2-1 triumph over their bitter rivals Fenerbahce in the quarterfinals, where he scored both goals that resulted in José Mourinho’s team being eliminated, Osimhen has been instrumental throughout the competition.

Galatasaray now leads the Super Lig by five points with six games left, and their victory over Konyaspor not only puts them in the running for a domestic double this season but also advances them to the Turkish Cup final. The Istanbul powerhouses are determined to win the Turkish Cup for the first time since the 2016–2017 campaign.
