Tinubu highlighted the critical role of economic empowerment for women and praised midwives and healthcare workers for their contributions to better maternal and child health. She noted that the kits are intended to equip midwives with essential tools to perform their duties effectively, stating, “The health profession demands not just skill and compassion, but also the right resources to support our midwives in their service.”

Additionally, she announced a N50 million grant to support 1,000 petty traders in Taraba State, underscoring the initiative’s broader goals of uplifting families through programs in agriculture, economic empowerment, education, health, and social investment, with a focus on women and children.

She also acknowledged the efforts of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, and Dr. Muyi Aina, head of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, for their work in advancing healthcare.

Mrs. Agyin Kefas, wife of the Taraba State Governor, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and President Tinubu for their commitment to improving Nigerian lives. Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, in turn, thanked Mrs. Tinubu for selecting Taraba as the northeast distribution hub, noting that the initiative is fostering hope and addressing healthcare access and affordability, especially for pregnant women and mothers. He described the effort as part of a broader transformation in Nigeria’s health sector, steadily improving life expectancy and other health outcomes.
