Tolu Arokodare, a forward for KRC Genk, has thought back on his Nigerian debut.

In last month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Amavubi of Rwanda, Arokodare made his debut for Nigeria.

The 24-year-old was seen sobbing in the locker room following the altercation with Adel Amrouche’s squad.

The forward claimed that the moment overtook him.

“To represent the nation is what every football player aspires to.” He told Genk’s official website, “I have no words, I was very overwhelmed by the moment, and I was very very happy for my dad because I know it meant a lot to him.”

“I was also thrilled that he could attend and see me perform professionally for the first time in Nigeria.”
