Governor Dauda Lawal has received praise from the Coalition of Rescue Support Groups in Zamfara for identifying and eliminating 2,363 ghost workers who were unlawfully earning N193,642,097.19 per month from the state’s payroll.

According to the Coalition, this has facilitated the Governor’s prompt adoption of the new national minimum salary of N70,000.00 for civil officials.

The Coalition stated in a statement signed by Zamfara State Coordinator Alhaji Rufai Ahmed Gusau that the new minimum wage will improve service delivery, increase financial stability, and raise the standard of living for all government workers.

According to the statement, “it’s a departure from the vicious cycle of salary bondage imposed on workers by previous administrations in the state.”

“Only sincere and diligent workers receive praise and rewards. As of right now, 2,363 ghost workers who were unlawfully collecting a total of N193,642,097.19 each month have been taken off of Zamfara State’s payroll, while 28,273 workers have been vetted and cleared.

“This has saved the state N200 million, which will now be used to restore Zamfara State’s greatness and prosperity.”

“And saved Zamfara from reactionary forces and political hirelings that have hampered its progress.”

“The Zamfara people are now reaping the benefits of democracy and sound government thanks to increased economic activity and security. This is the essence of democracy.

“We also implore all employees, union leaders, opposition parties, and the decent people of Zamfara to support the government on this historic path of change, advancement.
