Lagos: Nigerian government will close independence Bridge for two months

    Published on

In order to perform necessary maintenance and rehabilitation, the federal government has announced that the Independence Bridge (which is headed to Marina) will be temporarily closed beginning on April 1.

In a statement released on Monday, Lagos’ Federal Controller of Works, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, confirmed the closure and emphasized that the bridge will stay closed until May 2025.

This closure will impact traffic traveling from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan by Zone 2. Motorists are advised to plan their routes carefully and consider using alternative roads to avoid significant traffic delays.

Kesha reiterated her apologies for any difficulty this may create and thanked the public for their patience and cooperation as the government works to protect the safety and integrity of the infrastructure.
