FG to close Independence Bridge in Lagos for repairs on April 1

    Published on

The Federal Government has announced the closure of the Independence Bridge (Marina bound) for essential maintenance and rehabilitation works. The closure, which takes effect from April 1, will last until the end of May 2025.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, emphasizing that the move is crucial for ensuring the safety and stability of the bridge.

According to her, the closure will impact traffic flow from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan by Zone 2. She urged motorists to make necessary adjustments and consider alternative routes to avoid gridlock during the repair period.

Kesha expressed regret over any inconvenience the closure might cause, assuring the public that the government is committed to improving road infrastructure. She also appreciated the public’s cooperation and understanding during the rehabilitation process.

Motorists and commuters are advised to stay updated on traffic advisories and plan their journeys accordingly.
