On Monday night, about 85 Nigerian nationals who are being deported from the United States are expected to arrive in Lagos.

According to a statement from Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, 116 more people are presently being held.

Magnus Eze, her media assistant, signed the statement, which urged the US government to take a more compassionate stance and voiced worries about the deportation procedure.

The statement further stated that “about 85 Nigerians have been cleared for deportation and about 201 are currently detained in US immigration centers.”

Meanwhile, the Minister stated that the “US Deportations Begin” in a post on Monday on her official X account.

According to information obtained, deported Nigerians will be transported straight to Lagos State by air.

Richard Mills Jr. the US Ambassador to Nigeria, claims that inmates incarcerated in US jails are among the initial round of deportees.
