Niger Gov. Bago authorizes hospital casual staff to receive monthly wage of N80,000

    Published on

Mohammed Umaru Bago, the governor of Niger State, has authorized a N80,000 monthly wage for temporary hospital employees throughout the state.

The Minna General Hospital’s casual staff members’ objections over their work status prompted this decision.

Bago made this claim during a recent conversion effort that his administration had started, when he met with irate casual workers in Minna who had complained about being taken advantage of.

He underlined that this ruling guarantees that casual employees be paid the minimum salary set by the state.

He did point out that it is not practical to integrate all temporary employees into the state civil service.

Casual employees with degrees who have worked for 10 to 15 years will be automatically promoted, he said, while those with diplomas will be placed on probation with the hope that they will improve their credentials within three years.
