Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed no fewer than at least 11 people in an attack on some communities in Nyiev-ya, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was determined that the tragedy happened on December 25 when the people were spending Christmas with their family.

A resident in the town confirmed the attack to newsmen on Thursday.

The inhabitant, who asked not to be named, claimed to have received a distress call informing them that Nyiev-ya was being attacked.

“This afternoon, December 25, the terrorist herders invaded Ubutu and GSS Anwase, killing people and setting houses on fire.”

The terrorists killed Daniel Jam’s son. “Please pray for God’s and the government’s intervention in our community,” the resident stated.

Another resident revealed that there was an attack going on in Ityuluv, in the Nyiev-ya village, at the same time as the homicide in Tse Azege.

“The chairman and the government should act quickly if they must. Kwande continues to deliver unappealing news.

He declared, “Today, December 26, the terrorist herders have persisted in their assault against our people.”

Iorbee Ihagh, the president general of Mzough U Tiv Worldwide and a native of Kwande LGA, stated that the local community leader verified the attack.

He claimed that multiple persons were slain on Christmas Day and described the incident as unjustified.

According to reports, the attack on Kwande LGA yesterday claimed the lives of eleven individuals. Despite the fact that the attack was unprovoked, the herdsmen who carried out the attack broke into the communities and attacked the residents.

Many remain unaccounted for. The incident has been reported to the police station by the leaders of the impacted villages,” he stated.

Solomon Amande, a local whose neighborhood was impacted, acknowledged that 11 people had died and said that paramilitary groups and armed herders were responsible for the murders.

When contacted, Sewuese Anene, the public relations officer for the Benue State Police, stated she was unaware of the occurrence.
