    Kwara: Local hunters free kidnapped wedding guests

    Local vigilantes and hunters have freed the five kidnapped wedding guests who were traveling from Kogi State to the Odo-Owa hamlet in Kwara State.

    The victims were rescued on Tuesday by local hunters and vigilantes after being kidnapped by gunmen last Saturday at around 4 p.m. in Obbo-Ayegunle in Kwara state’s Ekiti Local Government Area.

    In the Odo-Owa community, the victims were all members of the same family, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N100 million.

    According to reports that appeared in Ilorin’s on Wednesday, the Oke-Ero Local Government Area Chairman paid a visit to the victims at the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

    The hunters and vigilantes also freed eight additional prisoners in addition to the five kidnappees, according to unconfirmed reports.

    In an attempt to respond to the development, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the state police command spokeswoman, was not reachable in Ilorin on Wednesday.
