NEC Will Talk About State Police Today

    Published on

The 36 state governors make up the council, which is chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am in the State House’s Council Chamber in Abuja.

Punch has confirmation of this development from people familiar with the agenda.

“I haven’t seen the agenda, but it’s scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. One person, who wished to remain unnamed since he was authorized to speak to the media, stated, “It is not out yet.”

But according to a different source, the council members will discuss the states’ formal stance during the meeting.

We found out at the last meeting that certain states will submit their reports in a week.

“The council was informed about the establishment of state police, and it was reported that 33 states had submitted their positions, while three states have not yet done so,” he clarified.

Adamawa, Kebbi, and, incidentally, Kwara—who serves as our forum chairman—are these three states.

“The positions of the FCT have not yet been submitted.

“The council decided to present a consolidated state’s position on the state police to the National Economic Council at our next meeting and directed these remaining states and the FCT to submit their proposals within the next week.”
