Cristian Romero Criticizes Spurs’ Board After Chelsea Defeat

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has publicly criticized the club’s board, blaming their lack of investment for the team’s recent struggles. His remarks followed Spurs’ crushing 4-3 defeat to Chelsea, a match where Tottenham squandered a 2-0 lead.

Under manager Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have recorded just one win in their last seven games across all competitions, placing them 11th in the Premier League table after 15 fixtures. Speaking to Telemundo Deportes, Romero contrasted Spurs’ approach to that of rivals like Manchester City and Liverpool, who consistently invest to strengthen their squads.

“Clubs like City, Liverpool, and even Chelsea are examples we need to follow,” said Romero. “They invest, adapt, and succeed, while we seem stuck in the same cycle.”

The Argentine defender, who has played under five different managers since joining Tottenham in 2021, believes the problem lies with the club’s leadership rather than the coaching staff or players. He stressed the need for structural changes, emphasizing that Spurs could contend for titles with the right backing.

Romero’s criticism adds to the mounting pressure on Tottenham’s board as fans and players alike demand a new direction for the club.
