Alhassan received 27,377 votes from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), while Dumelo received 40,561 votes from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Saturday, December 7, 2024, parliamentary election is a significant political turning point for Dumelo, who ran for the same seat in 2020 but lost to Alhassan by a slim margin.
Dumelo began his acting career in 1991 while still a student and has since gained notoriety in the Ghanaian (Gollywood) and Nigerian (Nollywood) film industries.

The former governor of Anambra State urged Mahama to start making revolutionary strides in the vital field that would support the nation’s growth in a statement released on Sunday.
