    Navy Logistics Command provides free medical services to Delta community

    The Nigerian Navy Logistics Command, Oghara has provided free medical services to residents of Osubi Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

    No fewer than 1000 persons benefited from the medical rhapsody that was held on Tuesday at the community.

    The medical rhapsody is in line with the end of the year activities of the Nigerian Navy.

    Recall that the free medical outreach is a non-kinetic approach by the Nigerian Navy to foster cooperation with the host communities.

    Addressing the beneficiaries, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Logistics Command, Rear Adm. Chijioke Onyemaobi said that the medical rhapsody was part of the Nigerian Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility to it’s host communities.

    Onyemaobi was represented at the event by Navy Commodore Mitchell
    Epelle, the Command’s Administrative Officer.

    The naval boss said that the medical outreach was an aged-long tradition of the Nigerian Navy to strengthen civil-military relation with the populace.

    “I urged members of the Osubi Community to leverage on the opportunity and get themselves examined and treated,” he said.

    Some of the free services provided included: blood pressure check, dental check, eye check, malaria test with treatment, distribution of treated mosquito nets.

    Others were: provision of free recommended eye glasses and free pharmaceuticals and among others.

    Omole, the Command’s Medical Officer used the opportunity to delivered a lecture titled: “The Need for Routine Health Checks for Longevity of Human life Span”.

    Speaking on behalf of the Osubi Community, it’s chairman, Mr Julius Okerege commended Rear Adm. Onyemaobi for the gesture.

    He said that the medical rhapsody was first of it’s kind by the Nigerian Navy in the community that produces the current Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

    Okerege assured that the Osubi Community would continue to accord the Nigerian Navy with the maximum cooperation.
