Bayer Leverkusen Set to Extend Victor Boniface’s Stay Amid Manchester United Interest

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced negotiations to extend the contract of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, following growing interest from top European clubs, including Manchester United. The new deal would see Boniface’s contract, which is currently set to run until 2028, extended until 2029. Additionally, the agreement would include a significant pay rise, placing him among the top earners at the club.

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, Boniface has made an impressive impact, scoring 29 goals and providing 10 assists in 49 appearances. His performances were pivotal in Leverkusen securing their first-ever Bundesliga title, as well as the DFB-Pokal last season. He also played a key role in their German Super Cup victory this year, scoring the opening goal.

Boniface’s exceptional debut season earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award, attracting attention from several major clubs, with Manchester United reportedly among those interested in securing his services.

Although Boniface is currently sidelined with a thigh injury sustained during international duty, he has expressed a preference for a move to La Liga if he were to leave Germany in the future. However, transfer expert Patrick Berger reports that the Nigeria international feels settled at Bayer Leverkusen and envisions his immediate future in the Rhineland, suggesting he is likely to remain at the club despite the interest from English teams.
