Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after attending the inaugural International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE Expo) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Although no official statement was released about his return, it is reported that Shettima arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night.

At the summit, Shettima emphasized the need for strengthened governance, enhanced transparency, and increased collaboration among African leaders and industry stakeholders. He called for a unified effort to leverage the continent’s resource wealth to drive sustainable development.

The Vice President reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering an inclusive extractive industry, underpinned by transparency, regional partnerships, and local capacity development.

The summit, themed “Policies and Strategies for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries,” brought together leaders from across Africa to explore innovative solutions for resource management and energy security.

Shettima had departed Abuja for Abidjan on Wednesday morning. Upon his arrival at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, he was received by Mr. Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Diaspora of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as Minister of Mines, Oil, and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, along with other Nigerian diplomats.
