The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, is set to launch the ‘School Protection Squad’ in Ogun State, an initiative designed to enhance the safety and security of schools across the region. The unveiling will take place during a two-day event from November 26 to 27, 2024, under the theme “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders.”

In a statement released by the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the event will provide detailed insights into the security measures implemented by the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard schools. The initiative aims to promote school safety through strategies like rapid response deployment, vehicular patrols, and security training sessions for students, principals, and other school stakeholders.

The event will also feature contributions from sister security agencies, government bodies, traditional rulers, and private sector representatives, all working together to ensure the success of the program.

The public is encouraged to follow the event’s proceedings live on the official police social media platforms, starting at 10:00 am on both days. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss, share ideas, and propose new strategies to further enhance the security of schools across Ogun State.
