The Nigerian Army (NA) has launched an investigation into a viral audio-visual recording that allegedly shows a confrontation between a senior Army officer, two other soldiers, and a man and woman in Abuja.

The recording, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms, depicts an altercation, though the full context and details of the incident remain unclear. The video has sparked public concern, with many questioning the conduct of the Army personnel involved.

In response to the growing controversy, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation to determine the true circumstances surrounding the incident.

A statement issued by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, assured the public that the Army remains committed to its constitutional duty of serving and protecting all Nigerians. The Army reiterated its dedication to conducting a transparent and fair inquiry to resolve the matter.

“We urge the public to remain confident that due diligence will be applied in reaching a logical conclusion,” the statement read.

As of now, further details on the identities of the individuals involved or the specific nature of the altercation have not been disclosed. The investigation is expected to provide clarity and address any concerns regarding the behavior of the personnel involved.

The Nigerian Army has continued to call for public trust in its process, stressing that it takes such allegations seriously and will ensure accountability where necessary.
