    Yola DisCo Begins Free Prepaid Meter Distribution to Band A Customers

    The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has commenced the distribution of 1,880 prepaid meters to unmetered Band A customers under the Meter Asset Funds Scheme. This initiative aims to ensure accurate billing and improve customer satisfaction.

    The rollout includes *1,500 single-phase meters* and *380 three-phase meters, with installations scheduled between **November 18 and November 30, 2024*, by approved vendors.

    ### Part of Presidential Metering Initiative

    Launched on June 13, 2024, the Meter Asset Funds Scheme is part of the Presidential Metering Initiative designed to accelerate metering across Nigeria. Customers will receive the meters at no cost, as confirmed by YEDC’s Communications Officer, Blessing Tunoh, in a statement on Tuesday.

    “This initiative targets Band A customers who ceased receiving electricity subsidies in April. We urge customers to cooperate with installers during the exercise,” the statement read.

    ### Regulatory Backing

    The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the distribution process, emphasizing the program’s role in enhancing transparency and service quality in electricity distribution.

    YEDC reaffirmed its dedication to providing reliable and efficient services to its customers, highlighting this metering initiative as a significant step toward achieving these goals.
