NiMet predicts rain, dust haze throughout Nigeria For three days

    Published on

The northern area will see a little dust haze on Monday, with localized visibility of two to five kilometers, according to NiMet’s weather report, which was made public in Abuja on Sunday.

Throughout the North Central region, similar foggy weather with poor visibility are anticipated.

While sections of Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River may experience light rain and thunderstorms in the morning, inland regions of southern Nigeria are expected to experience bright skies with a hazy environment.

In regions such as southern Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta States, thunderstorms with light rain are predicted by the afternoon and evening.

NiMet predicts that the northern and North Central regions will continue to have a mild dust haze on Tuesday, with visibility returning between 2 and 5 km.

In the meanwhile, there will be cloudy patches over coastal areas and hazy sky across the southern inland.

The forecast for Wednesday calls for a recurrence of a light dust haze with poor visibility in the northern and North Central areas.

While coastal states may have cloud patches, inland regions in the southern region will continue to be sunny and hazy. Parts of Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom are expected to see thunderstorms and moderate rain later in the day.

Because dust particles are floating in the air, NiMet has cautioned the public, particularly those with respiratory disorders, to use caution. In areas that anticipate rain, thunderstorms may also be accompanied by high winds.
