SOKAPU Abuja Chapter Calls on Southern Kaduna Voters to Safeguard Their Interests in Local Government Elections

The Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Abuja Chapter, has raised alarms about alleged efforts by Governor Uba Sani to compromise the electoral process ahead of the local government elections set for Saturday.

In a statement from Musa Adamu Koro, the head of the Political Committee, concerns were voiced regarding the nomination of Hausa-Fulani Muslim candidates for key positions in predominantly Christian local government areas, such as Kauru and Kagarko. Koro argues that this move aims to marginalize Christian voices in the region.

“The upcoming elections are crucial,” SOKAPU stressed. “We must elect candidates who truly represent the interests of Southern Kaduna, rather than those serving the agendas of political elites.”

The committee urges all eligible voters in Southern Kaduna to actively engage in the electoral process, emphasizing the need to support candidates dedicated to the community’s well-being. They highlighted the importance of unity and collective interests, encouraging voters to inform others about the dangers of backing candidates who lack authentic connections to the community.

SOKAPU also calls for vigilance at polling stations, advising voters to act as observers to protect the integrity of the election. “Arrive early, make your voice count, and remain engaged throughout the election,” the committee advised, stressing the necessity of accurate and transparent vote counting, particularly during the collation process.

As the elections approach, SOKAPU asserts that it is imperative for the people of Southern Kaduna to take control of their political future and safeguard their rights within the democratic system. The message is clear: the future of Southern Kaduna hinges on informed and active voters ready to resist marginalization.
