The local government elections in Jaba have been thrown into disarray as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) arrived without critical electoral materials, including result sheets and a designated returning officer.

As the day progressed, frustrated residents gathered at the Jaba Local Government Headquarters, brandishing placards with slogans like “No Returning Officer, No Election,” “We Demand Free and Fair Elections,” and “No Election Materials, No Election.”

By midday, SIECOM had failed to distribute any of the necessary materials, exacerbating tensions among the electorate.

Local leaders are calling for immediate intervention from the electoral body, emphasizing that elections cannot proceed without proper oversight and essential resources. The Jaba community remains vigilant, demanding transparency and accountability from SIECOM as the electoral process hangs in the balance.

As events continue to unfold, both residents and officials are hopeful for a resolution that preserves the integrity of the electoral process in Jaba.
