Kemi Elebute-Halle, a former governorship candidate for the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ekiti State, officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, along with her supporters. The transition took place at the APC secretariat in Abuja, where they were welcomed by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

In her address to journalists after the reception, Elebute-Halle, who also served as the Deputy National Chairman of the ADP, cited the ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a significant factor influencing her decision. She expressed confidence that these reforms would ultimately enhance the nation’s pride.

Elebute-Halle praised Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji for persuading her to join the APC. “We are joining the APC to be a progressive partner to Mr. President and his Renewed Hope Agenda. We believe that the current government policies will succeed,” she stated.

She revealed that a significant rally held on October 7 led to the defection of over 7,000 individuals from various political parties, including the ADP, APP, AD, SDP, LP, PPA, and PDP, indicating a broad coalition of support.

In response to Elebute-Halle’s defection, Ganduje commended her and her supporters for their bold decision, expressing confidence in their alignment with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured them of equal opportunities within the party and promised their active involvement in all APC activities.
