    Ifelodun LG Chairman inaugurates Advisory Council

    The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has inaugurated an Advisory Council, comprising former Executive Chairmen of the Local Government Council at the Council Secretariat in Share.

    The inauguration of the Council, which was witnessed by Hon. AGF Salahuddeen, member representing Omupo Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly and Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, is said to be modelled after the Federal Government’s Council of State.

    In his inaugural speech, Hadji Femi Yusuf, who doubles as the Chairman of the Advisory Council, outlined his vision for the future of Ifelodun, while emphasising his commitment to breaking the outstanding record set by former Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Arc. Olukayode Abogunrin.

    “The Advisory Council is modelled after the Federal Government’s Council of State and aims to ensure the continuity of good governance and progress in Ifelodun Local Government. I wish to also state that the Executive Council will be forwarding a bill to the Legislative Council that will formally recognise the Advisory Council and make it an enduring Institution beyond my administration,” the Executive Chairman stated.

    While eulogising Hadji Femi Yusuf, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, expressed his confidence in the Executive Chairman’s leadership, applauding his readiness to hit the ground running.

    Ajakaye also appreciated the Executive Chairman for the foresight and wisdom in putting together the Advisory Council, adding that: “I am certain that our Elders and fathers who are here in the advisory council are not short of the wisdom to guide the chairman and his cabinet aright.”

    Hon. AGF Salahuddeen, member representing Omupo Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly also applauded the creation of the Advisory Committee, describing it as “a unique initiative that will involve past leaders in guiding the Executive council, while stressing the importance of utilising the knowledge and experience of former Chairmen to positively contribute to the development of Ifelodun Local Government Area”.

    The committee members inaugurated Include Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf (Chairman), Arc. Olukayode Abogunrin (Member), Barrister Hassan Garba Kehinde (Member), Rev (Dr.) Baba Kosalamala (Member), Dr. Babatunde Salami (Member), Hon. Abdulfatai Adeniyi Garba Labaka (Member), Mr Awoniyi Isaiah – HOD Admin (Secretary) and the recording Secretary, Mr Kadri Steven.

    Arc. Abogunrin, in his remarks, praised the establishment of the council as a landmark in local government administration in Nigeria, urging the new Chairman to remain focused, seek proper advice, and be diligent in his efforts to achieve good success.

    He reflected on his own experience as Chairman, emphasising the importance of prayer and the guidance of elders in overcoming certain challenges during his tenure, while offering prayers for the continuous growth of Ifelodun Local Government Area.

    Other dignitaries at the meeting were, Hon. Nike Ajibola, Vice Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government; RT Hon Jimoh Garba, Speaker Ifelodun Legislative Council; Hon. Ayanshola Benjamin, Development officer; Mallam Idris Ibrahim, Ifelodun DPM and other stakeholders.
