The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has announced the commencement of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) meeting, which will address the pressing issues of malpractice and irregularities reported during the 2024 WASSCE for school candidates.

In a statement shared on X, the West African Examinations Council emphasized the importance of this meeting for stakeholders. “The 78th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee begins today to consider and decide on the malpractice/irregularity cases arising from the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024,” the statement read.

The outcomes of this significant meeting are expected to have profound implications for students and the broader educational landscape in Nigeria. WAEC has urged affected candidates and the public to stay tuned for updates on the results of the deliberations.

Recent reports indicate that the exam results were released two months ago, on August 12, 2024. However, WAEC withheld the results of 215,267 candidates due to various irregularities.
